Service operations in Bremerhaven will be retained with 211 jobs. At the same time, the production and repair plant in Bremerhaven will be shut down by September 2020 and locations in Bremen and Emden will be closed. 166 jobs will be cut in a socially responsible manner. With 350 megawatts (MW) installed capacity, Wikinger will be capable of supplying renewable electricity of around 20% of the demand of Mecklenburg Vorpommern.
The nacelle has finished all pre-commissioning tests and has been connected to the hub. The first three tower sections, including the power section, are already in place. The rotor blades are on site and waiting to be lifted.

In close cooperation Adwen and Winergy developed the gearbox for Adwen’s AD 8-180 offshore wind turbine. With an input torque of close to 10,000 kilonewton-meters (kNm) and a weight of 86 tonnes it is the largest wind turbine gearbox ever built in the world.
